Adopt-A-Home
Make a commitment. Create a relationship. Your church or organization can form a lasting, mutually rewarding, personal relationship with a family to help them rebuild physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
These homes lack funding and need adoption. You can underwrite all or part of these homeowners’ needs. Click on each name to read details on the homeowner and their specific building material needs:
Contact Richard Maag for more information.
Berean Apartments
Revitalize a church and a neighborhood. Here’s a unique situation where your congregation can help the Berean Presbyterian Church provide much-needed low income apartment housing to the community, which in turn will produce revenue to support the valuable leadership of a full time pastor. Fundraising Project Ideas
These ideas are available for download in pdf format: Homes for Christmas or New Orleans Party. If you don’t have Adobe Reader, you can download it for free at adobe.com.
“Homes for Christmas” Tree
Cut out the house template, and place the homes on a tree. People can take a home off the tree, make a donation, and write a message on the home for the person/family who will receive the donated building materials. When the Presbytery of South Louisiana begins work to rebuild a home, the family will be given these messages of support, care, and hope. Send the homes with the messages to the Presbytery of South Louisiana along with the funds raised. Download instructions and templates.
Alternative Giving
Cut out the homes with the message: “A gift has been made in your name to the Presbytery of South Louisiana to help a family rebuild their hurricane damaged home.” People can make a donation to purchase building materials in honor of someone they love and send the house in a card as a gift to that person. A donation can also be made in memory of a loved one. Download instructions and templates
New Orleans Party
Host a gathering with your congregation, friends, or coworkers, complete with music, great New Orleans cuisine, and a mask-making activity. Download instructions and recipes. You can charge admission, take an offering, or have an auction to raise funds with your party.
Come up with your own
Please feel free to be creative in mixing and matching these ideas, or add your own to make this a meaningful mission of your congregation, presbytery, school, or workplace.
